Al-Madina News: South Korea said on Thursday that its northern neighbour had fired a ballistic missile in its direction on many occasions during the past few days.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea stated in a statement that “the firing took occurred Thursday morning” without providing any other information, such as the distance the weapon had flown.
North Korea has conducted six similar launches in less than two weeks, which has drawn criticism from the US and other nations.
The launch on Thursday comes two days after North Korea fired its first medium-range missile over Japan in five years.
In this regard, the North Korean Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which it declared that it “seriously condemns the joint drills between South Korea and the US, which raise military tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
“A four-day cooperative naval drill between South Korea and the United States started on Monday.
The exercises between Washington and Seoul are taking place in view of the rising tension in the region following Pyongyang’s adoption of a new law on September 10 that permits its army to launch “preemptive” nuclear assaults in order to defend itself.
