Bulgaria exempts Russian energy companies from sanctions until the end of 2024

In light of the challenging fuel situation in the nation, the Bulgarian government agreed to suspend restrictions against Russian enterprises that supply motor fuel until the end of 2024.
After October 10, 2022, “new government contracts and framework agreements may be concluded with suppliers of vehicle fuel from Russia,” according to a statement from the government that was excerpted by the Russian news agency TASS.

The government claimed that the choice was made in order to supply enough motor fuel to maintain the functionality of government agencies and other infrastructure.

Until the end of 2024, Bulgaria will not impose restrictions on Russian energy businesses.
