Kyodo: Japan is considering approving subsidies to help reduce gas bills

The Japanese “Kyodo” news agency reported, without citing a source, that the Japanese government is considering offering subsidies to assist down gas expenses for families and businesses.
This step will be included in the package of new economic measures for Prime Minister Fumio Kishida that are expected to be drafted at the end of this month, according to a report from the “Bloomberg” news agency, which also stated that the necessary funding for it will be found in the following supplementary budget.

Due to the hike in LNG prices, gas bills for houses have climbed by more than 20% from a year ago.
According to a report from Kyodo Agency on last Saturday, Japan is thinking about extending the wholesale oil subsidy scheme to lower retail gasoline prices into the spring of 2019. It also aims to avoid a dramatic increase in fuel prices despite continued supply worries brought on by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
