Blinken: The United States appreciates the positive steps of Armenia and Azerbaijan to reach a lasting peace agreement

The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, expressed appreciation on behalf of his country for the positive steps taken by Armenia and Azerbaijan to establish a lasting peace agreement.

Blinken expressed his appreciation for these efforts during a phone call with the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan today, according to State Department spokesman Ned Price. This came after a week marked by significant violence, including the deaths of Armenian soldiers and Azerbaijani civilians in a landmine explosion.
The minister also praised the October 2 meeting between the two ministers as a crucial development in the peace process, according to the spokesman.

He also commended the release of prisoners of war and emphasised that diplomacy is the only means through which the United States can assist the two nations in resolving their differences amicably.

Blinken: The US values Armenia and Azerbaijan’s constructive efforts to forge a permanent peace accord.
