When he visits Florida on Wednesday to assess the hurricane Ian damage, President Joe Biden will have a meeting with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the White House announced today, Tuesday.
According to White House spokeswoman Karen Jean-Pierre, Biden will receive a “operations briefing” from the governor, the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and local officials.
The meeting will be the result of the political agreement reached by Biden and DeSantis, who have put aside their political enmity for the past week in order to help coordinate federal recovery operations. Since the storm neared last week, the president and governor have spoken on the phone multiple times, and White House representatives have applauded the response at all levels of government.
During his state visit following Hurricane Ian, Biden intends to meet with Florida Governor Desantis.
