Iranian girls chase man out of school compound shouting ‘shameless’

A dramatic video of Iranian schoolgirls yelling “shameless” at a man as they chase him out of a school complex has gone popular on social media.
As he rapidly leaves the area, the unnamed man is seen throwing objects at the girls, many of whom are not donning the mandatory hijab, or headscarf.
At the Martyr Sadr Girls’ High School in Gohardasht, close to Tehran, an unnamed altercation reportedly took place on Monday.

It was difficult to fully verify the footage and it wasn’t obvious who the man in the video was, but Iranian social media described him as a representative of the education system.
When the 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was killed after being arrested for allegedly breaking the Islamic Republic’s strict dress code, there were massive protests around the nation. These protests erupted in response to this. Across Iran, protests have engulfed numerous cities and turned into the largest threat to the country’s government in recent memory.

Public wrath has been fueled by a number of lingering issues, such as the nation’s political repression, struggling economy, and isolation from the rest of the world.
Witnesses report spontaneous gatherings across the nation featuring small acts of defiance, such as protesters shouting slogans from rooftops, cutting their hair, and burning their state-mandated headscarves. The extent of the ongoing unrest, the most persistent in more than a decade, is still unknown.

Separately, the anti-government protests that have gripped the nation for weeks have continued to spread to universities and high schools. Despite this, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Tuesday urged for national unity and attempted to calm animosity against the administration.

Raisi admitted that the Islamic Republic had “weaknesses and faults,” but he reaffirmed the official line that the uproar caused by the death of a lady while she was in the care of the nation’s morality police last month was nothing less than a conspiracy by Iran’s adversaries.
