Israel: Gas revenues during the first half of 2022 jump 48%

According to information from the Israeli Ministry of Energy, the government’s gas receipts in the first half of 2022 increased by roughly 48% compared to those in the same period in 2021.

According to data released by the Revenue Department of the Israeli Ministry of Energy, Israeli gas companies paid the government payments of NIS 824 million during the first half of 2022, an increase of 48% over the amount of revenues paid to them in the first half of 2021.

According to the Ministry of Energy, “the increase in revenues is due to the natural gas production from the Leviathan and Tamar storage, which amounted to 10. 85 billion cubic metres of natural gas in the first six months of this year, of which 6. 26 billion cubic metres are allocated to the Israeli market and 4. 59 billion cubic metres for export.” Moreover, it is predicted that gas production will rise by 21.9% when compared to the first half of 2021.

The increase in the dollar exchange rate over that time period, according to the ministry, “added significantly to the total value of the income sent to the state treasury.”
