Late Sunday night, a suspicious package was discovered in a car at the Ambassador Bridge, shutting down North America’s biggest land border crossing between Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario.
Windsor police advised motorists to take the Detriot-Windsor Tunnel in its place because the bridge will be closed for a “undetermined amount of time.”
The border crossing handles over $400 million worth of commodities that are transported daily between Canada and the United States.
Nearly a fourth of the trade between the two neighbours is made possible as a result.
