The rape of a girl by a minor, which resulted in her injuries, in the Menoufia governorate of northern Egypt, has been the subject of posts and pictures on early Egyptian social networking sites in recent days. The Egyptian authorities intervened to uncover the “causalities of the incident.”
The tale started when activists published articles and images of the rape of the girl and the various injuries she sustained while attempting to protect herself at the Ashmoun Center in Menoufia on Facebook, pleading with the appropriate authorities to swiftly “find the offender.”
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior intervened to clarify the details of the occurrence after it sparked a commotion in the streets of Egypt.
In fact, a hospital informed Ashmoun police station that it had received a 9-year-old girl with “abrasions, bruises, and various wounds on the body” in early October, according to a late-night statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Interior. on Sunday last week.
According to the statement, the girl stated that a 14-year-old classmate lured her into the home of his father’s grandfather and sexually assaulted her there after asking the girl’s father about it.
She determined that she lives in the house where the incident occurred and that she saw the aforementioned child on the second floor with the mentioned injuries after the accused committed the incident, so she transferred the child to her family. The witness of the incident was the wife of the accused’s uncle, a housewife who lives in the same neighbourhood.
After making the proceedings legal, the accused was detained; upon being confronted, he admitted to perpetrating the crime; hence, legal action was taken, and the Public Prosecution assumed control of the investigation.
