After returning from a sectarian (cultural) session, a member of the Houthi militia—the Iranian arm in Yemen—set fire to the bodies of his wife and her mother in Sana’a.
And according to Yemeni media sources, a Houthi gunman by the name of Essam Al-Maqri broke into his wife’s family home in the Mazbah neighbourhood of central Sana’a, doused them in a gallon of gasoline, set them ablaze, and then locked the door till they perished.
She added that the elderly mother, Fatima Muhammad Awad (80 years old), and the wife, Rahma Yahya Atef, perished in the fire and that their bodies were burnt in a crime that shocked the neighbourhood greatly.
The sources claim that the Houthi armed man committed the act after returning from a three-month long sectarian (cultural) course held by the Houthi militia.
According to observers, the thought that the militia mobilised in the members’ minds during the sectarian sessions is the reason why the number of family killings increased noticeably in the Houthi militia-controlled areas.
