Face to face..Ankara informs Washington of a tough stance on the Aegean crisis with Greece

Al-Madina News: According to a report from Anadolu Agency published today, Sunday, Ibrahim Kalin, the presidential spokesman for Turkey, informed US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan that his nation was concerned about Greece’s recent provocations and what he called Athens’ violation of international law.
The agency reported that Kalin and Sullivan addressed Turkish-US political relations and defence industry collaboration during their meeting today, Sunday, in Istanbul.

Kalin emphasised that Greece’s “provocative and contrary to international law tactics are unacceptable” and that Turkey will not hesitate to defend its rights and interests in the Aegean and Mediterranean.
The two parties agreed that diplomatic efforts should be prioritised in order to put an end to the ongoing war in Ukraine as soon as possible in conformity with international law.

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Finland and Sweden’s participation in NATO, and the developments in the Aegean, Mediterranean, and South Caucasus were only a few of the regional problems that Kalin and Sullivan examined.
Turkey protested to the United States a week ago, asking that the demilitarised status of the eastern Aegean islands be taken into consideration and that precautions be taken to avoid using weapons there.

The deployment of American-made armoured vehicles by Athens on the islands of Medelli (Lesbos) and Sakis served as the backdrop for the Turkish protest (Chos).
