In order to help Ukraine defend against drone attacks, Germany will soon deliver the first of four advanced air defence systems, known as “AREST-T,” to the country, according to German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht, who made the announcement during an unannounced visit to the Ukrainian city of Odessa on Saturday, October 1, 2022.
Oleksiy Reznikov, the defence minister of Ukraine, and Lambrecht met in an underground bunker as air raid sirens wailed in the port city. Lambrecht had extended a visit to neighbouring Moldova for the meeting.
Lambrecht told ARD television that “in a few days we will introduce the extremely contemporary AREST-T air defence system.” In particular, drone defence is crucial, according to Lambrecht.
