23 of the PKK in Iraq

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) was neutralised by Iraqi airstrikes today, Sunday, according to a statement from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry clarified in a statement that Turkish fighter jets were operating 140 kilometres from the Turkish-Iraqi border in the Assos region.
The statement also mentioned the possibility of increasing the amount of neutralised elements.

According to the statement, on September 27 there were airstrikes against the Asos region.
She continued by saying that PKK hideouts were the target of 16 raids by Turkish military in the aforementioned region.
Additionally, according to remarks made on Thursday by Turkish Minister Hulusi Akar, Turkey struck PKK locations in Iraqi territory last week from “140 kilometres away from the border.”

“We conducted air strikes on Monday in northern Iraq, the Asos region, 140 km from the border,” the minister said during his visit to the southeast city of Sirnak, which is home to a majority of Kurds.
Akar claims that the “Leadership of the Workers’ Party” website, which Ankara and its Western supporters categorise as a “terrorist” group, was the focus of Turkish army action.

Without saying whether the Kurdistan Party was responsible for the targeting of the mountainous area, he continued, “16 caves utilised by the Kurdistan Party were destroyed.”
In order to create a security zone along his country’s borders, the army has been conducting operations against the PKK and its allies’ bases in Iraq since mid-April and has threatened to unleash a large onslaught against the PKK combatants there.

Due to objections from both Russia, which backs the pro-Damascus Kurds, and the nations that helped the Kurdish movements battle ISIS, it has not yet been put into effect.
