Donald Trump, a former US president, is expected to make his intentions for the 2024 presidential election public by November 24, according to Kellyanne Conway, a former assistant to Trump.
Given that senior Republicans have considered the 2022 midterm elections as potentially serving as a referendum on Trump, Conway’s remarks imply that Trump will hold off until after the election.
After the midterm elections, Conway said Trump “would prefer” to declare his intention to run for president in 2024, adding that it will probably happen by Thanksgiving on November 24.
Trump, he continued, “is as active in this midterm election as anyone else, and that’s crucial for calculus.
“I think President Trump can review the timing of his announcement once those midterms are over,” Conway continued.
She added, talking to the announcer, “I’ll tell you why he wants to run for president: he wants his former job back.
Conway stated in July that she would advise Trump to hold off on making his announcement until after the midterm elections.
Trump’s announcement will alter the parameters of the 2024 election. The approaching presidential race has received little attention from politicians, who reportedly waited for the outgoing president to declare his intentions before expressing their own.
