Yemen.. Houthi requirements hours before the end of the armistice

According to the Saba Net news agency, an official source in the Yemeni government acknowledged that it has received an amended request from Hans Grundberg, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, to extend and broaden the ceasefire beginning on October 2.
According to the source, the Yemeni administration is evaluating the amended plan and would respond favourably to it.

The administration, according to the source, wants to extend benefits to all Yemenis, make travel easier for them, and make sure that salaries are paid in order to lessen the hardship that has been brought on by the Houthi militia coup.

The Yemeni government emphasised its support for the efforts of the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Yemen to achieve comprehensive and lasting peace in its appeal to the Security Council and the international community to exert pressure on the Houthis to stop the truce’s daily violations and to actively engage in implementing all of its provisions.

In order to lessen the humanitarian crisis brought on by the war in the nation and to begin talks for a long-term peace process, the United Nations and the international community are attempting to extend the cease-fire for an additional six months.
The Houthi militia, however, stated that it will implement its demands and include them in the conditions of extending and expanding the cease-fire, rejecting the most recent UN plan.

According to a statement made by the Houthi militias, the militias threatened to resume hostilities if the truce expired.
One of the requirements set forward by the Houthis was that pay for public sector workers in the areas under their control be paid out of the earnings of crude oil and gas sales in the areas under the authority of the legitimate government. In addition, they requested that only the minor routes in Taiz that had been previously agreed upon be opened when the ceasefire began in April of last year.

The chairman of the Houthi militia’s so-called Supreme Political Council demanded that all foreign maritime and oil companies operating there immediately cease all of their operations, accusing them of disobeying orders that will be given in the ensuing hours.
