13 people have now perished as a result of the tremendous rains that have fallen in Venezuela over the past two weeks; three more deaths were verified on Saturday by local officials, and at least three more individuals are still missing.

The authorities discovered on Friday the ninth body of a group of ten persons who had been washed away by floods a week ago in a valley in the town of Lopatera in Tachira (west), where bad weather had inflicted devastation.
The body of a “infant” was discovered in Merida (west), carried away “15 days ago” by a river flood. As rain inflicted devastation in the nation’s midwest, governor Jehison Guzman claimed the child was with a man who is still “lost” in action.

A person in Lara was struck by lightning and murdered while using the phone. Adolfo Pereira, the governor of Lara, told reporters on Friday that the guy was “sadly injured and died,” adding that two people had died in the state as a result of the rain and that there was still another person missing for whom the search was ongoing.
In a flood that also swept away last week, an 11-year-old boy died in Caracas.
Additionally, the authorities mentioned power shortages, flooding, and damage to public highways.

Due to the potential for “record” precipitation rates this year, Caracas has launched an emergency operations coordination centre.
