Ten persons were reported dead in the Gedo district of Jubbaland state, southern Somalia, by the local authorities following an attack by Al-Shabaab terrorists.
According to Russia Today, Ahmed Boli Grad, the governor of the province of Ghado, claimed that “armed terrorist groups started an attack on the employees when they were digging a well for hydrating those suffering by the drought that ravaged numerous districts in the south and centre of the country.”
He continued by saying that the terrorists burnt both the victims’ equipment and the bodies of the victims.
He emphasised that the Al-Shabaab terrorist group was the target of multiple attacks by the Somali army and the revolt of the people, which cleared out many places that had been under their control in previous years.
Large portions of the southern and central regions of Somalia are under the authority of Al-Shabab, which is waging war against the country’s federal government.
To counter the growing threat the terrorist organisation posed to American allies, the United States decided to resume strikes against ISIS in May.
