Roma increases Inter’s crisis with Smalling’s header

On Saturday in the Italian Serie A, Roma defender Chris Smalling scored a header to help his team to a crucial 2-1 victory over Inter Milan.
Lorenzo Pellegrini’s outstanding free kick from about 44 metres later resulted in Smalling’s goal in the 75th minute, and Federico Dimarco, an Inter defender, opened the scoring 30 minutes earlier after receiving a pass from Nicolo Parilla and launching a strong ball that changed course before finding the back of the net.

After nine minutes, Roma equalised through Paulo Dybala, who scored his fourth league goal of the year by utilising a beautifully placed cross from his teammate Leonardo Spinazzola.
Eden Dzeko of Inter thought he had given his team the lead in the 11th minute, but the goal was disallowed for offside by the video assistance referee.
Fourth-placed Roma, who have 16 points after eight games, will host Lecce on October 9, while Inter, who are in seventh position with 12 points, will play Sassuolo on Saturday.

Roma’s situation intensifies for Inter thanks to Smalling’s header.
