Turkey: We reject Russia’s decision to annex Ukrainian regions

News from Al-Madina: The plan by Russia to acquire 4 regions of Ukraine was rejected by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
The foreign ministry issued a statement on Friday saying, “We cannot accept this decision, which is a major violation of recognised principles of international law.”

Turkey, it was noted in the statement, “emphasised on every occasion its strong support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity, independence, and sovereignty” and stated that it “did not accept Russia’s annexation of Crimea in an unlawful referendum it held in 2014.”
According to the stance we adopted in 2014, we oppose Russia’s decision to annex the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye, the statement continued.

We reiterate our support for putting an end to the Russian-Ukrainian war, which has grown more dangerous, on the basis of a just peace that can be reached through negotiations, the Foreign Ministry said. “We cannot accept this decision, which is a serious violation of established principles of international law.

In the face of strong opposition and condemnation from the West, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a paper annexing the Ukrainian provinces of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye, and Kherson on Friday.
And on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that more than 98% of voters in the four regions’ referendums had chosen to join Russia.

As a result of Russia’s military incursion into its neighbour Ukraine since February 24, major cities, led by Washington, have imposed heavy economic sanctions on Moscow.
Origin: Anatolia.

Turkey: We disapprove of Russia’s decision to annexe portions of Ukraine.
