Al-Madina News: A group of officers in Burkina Faso declared on Friday night that the army leader had been fired and that the constitution-writing process had been put on hold.
In a statement read on national television, the officer, Ibrahim Traore, claimed to have removed military supremo Paul Henry Damiba, disbanded the government, suspended the constitution, permanently locked the borders, and halted all political and civil society activity.
He continued by saying that Demba was fired by a group of officers because of his inability to handle the escalating insurrection.
It was the country’s second revolution in eight months; Damiba had seized control in a coup in January that removed Rosh Kabore as president, which was likewise motivated in part by concern about the country’s escalating instability.
