Lula continues to lead Bolsonaro in voting intentions in the presidential poll

According to a poll, former Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva is still expected to win the first round of voting on Sunday with a 14-point advantage over departing President Jair Bolsonaro.
The Data Folha institute reports that Bolsonaro’s vote intention increased by one point to 34 percent, while Lula’s vote intention increased from 47 percent to 48 percent over the past week.

The two candidates maintained their advantage over candidate Ciro Gomez (centre left), whose vote intentions dropped from 7 to 6 percent, while those for candidate Simon Tabet (centre right) stayed at 5 percent.
If Lula receives more than 50% of the vote in the first round, he will prevail. Lula ruled Brazil from 2003 to 2010. (not counting the null and blank ballot papers).

Lula received 50% of the announced vote intentions, according to the “Data Fulha” poll, vs 36% for the president of the far-right.
The margin of error for the survey, however, may have an impact on this percentage (+ or – 2 percentage points), hence it is questionable whether a second election round will be held on October 30.
If there was a second round of voting, the institution predicted Lula would receive 54% of the vote.

Data Folha will release the results of the poll, which comprised a sample of 6,800 voters, on Saturday.
Another poll conducted by IPIC on Monday found that 52 percent of respondents planned to vote for Lula and 34 percent for Bolsonaro.

In the presidential survey, Lula continues to lead Bolsonaro in terms of voting intentions.
