Polish Foreign Ministry: We can help Hungary diversify energy supplies

Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marsen Berza, the Polish Deputy Foreign Minister, confirmed on Friday that his country may help Hungary to diversify its energy sources.
“The Hungary wants to diversify its energy supplies and Poland can be an energy supply to our southern neighbors,” the Polish newspaper The Persia News quoted Berzenach.

Berzenach explained that he told the Polish parliament that the energy security proposal was launched by Matios Moravitski, the Polish Prime Minister, at the Vishgerad Group (Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary) on Thursday in Kosic, Slovakia.
Berzenach added that this proposal was among the arguments that persuaded the Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Urban to agree to NATO membership of Sweden and Finland.

Hungary depends on Russia in about 85 percent of its gas supplies, and this dependence has raised concerns in Europe about Russian influence on it.
Hungary and Turkey are the only members of NATO who have not yet ratified Sweden and Finland’s accession to the alliance. Both countries, so far, have asked to join NATO in response to Russian intervention in Ukraine last February..
