Chinese President Xi Jinping presented North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, in a letter, cooperating to “accelerate peace” in the world, according to the official North Korean News Agency.
The move comes as tension reached its peak on the Korean peninsula after a record series of missile tests conducted by Pyongyang, while Seoul, Washington and Tokyo strengthened military cooperation between them.
Pyongyang, in particular, launched an ICBM on November 18, it fell from Japan.
Kim Jong Un threatened the United States with a nuclear cold if his country was attacked.
“The world, the era, and history are changing unprecedented,” said Xi in response to a message from Kim, who congratulated him on his reassurance at the head of the Chinese Communist Party, and the state in October.
“In the face of this new situation, I am ready to contribute with you positively (.
) To accelerate the peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and the rest of the world,” the Chinese president added.
China is the most important ally and commercial partner for North Korea, which is subject to strict sanctions from the United Nations because of its nuclear and missile programs.
After a meeting of the UN Security Council on Monday, China and Russia refused to join the other 13 members of the Council – including the United States, India, France and Britain – which condemned the launch of Pyongyang, the continent -crossing ballistic missiles on November 18.
In May, Beijing and Moscow used the veto against a draft resolution submitted by Washington to strengthen sanctions against North Korea.
During an interview last week on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali, US President Joe Biden asked Xi Jinping to reach North Korea clearly of the necessity of not conducting a new nuclear test that Seoul and Washington believed is preparing for her.
“Our diplomacy will definitely seek to push China to join countries that publicly condemn that day and use its influence to persuade” North Korea, “a US official said..
