The United States adopts new financial aid to Ukraine

The US government has announced that it will provide 4. 5 billion dollars in financial assistance to Ukraine, with the aim of “enhancing economic stability and supporting basic government services. ”
The decision comes at a time when Kyiv suffers from the repercussions of the Russian invasion, as Moscow intensifies its strikes on the energy infrastructure in Ukraine, in parallel with increasing losses on the ground.

“This money will begin in the coming weeks,” US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a statement.
She added that the aid will go to the Ukrainian government and help it facing the war launched by Russia “by enhancing economic stability and supporting basic government services, including wages of hospitals, government employees and teachers.

The World Bank said in a separate statement that the funds will be allocated within the framework of the “Pis” project, which is part of a billion dollar aid package for this country.
World Bank President David Malabas said that the US money comes “at a critical time as the country faces a sharp interruption of energy supplies and a cooler ritual. ”
He added that “our commitment to urgent assistance to the people of Ukraine is strong as it has always been.

He added that the World Bank has so far raised about $ 17. 8 billion in an emergency financing to support the Ukrainian people, and more than $ 11. 4 billion has been spent from this financing.
Yellain said the last funds raise the total US direct support to Ukraine to $ 13 billion, all in the form of grants..
