Stockholm’s arbitration court conquers “Gazprom” in a case with Finland

The Stockholm Arbitration Court ruled that the Finnish GASUM company must pay a debt of “Gazprom” in more than 300 million euros, as it considered Russia’s decision to adopt the ruble in the payments by force.
“Gasum, the Finnish Gasum, must pay us debts of more than 300 million euros, given that the Russian President’s decree on moving to payment of the price Gas in ruble is an event that is a force majeure.

According to the contract, the parties are obligated to continue negotiations to solve the problems related to supplies. ”
The company added that the court considered the decision of “Gazprom” to suspend supplies to Finland because of its refusal to pay it in the Russian ruble legally, as it described the Russian President’s decision No. 172 dated March 31, 2022 on the transformation of pushing gas supplies to the ruble as a force of force under the contract concluded between the two sides.

“Gazprom Export” indicated that the arbitration court instructed the parties to continue negotiations on future gas supplies.
