The “Sivagard Devinders”, a European -based human rights organization, has published a report in September revealing the presence of dozens of Chinese police service centers in major cities around the world, including New York.

The report said that these centers are an extension of Beijing’s efforts to pressure some Chinese citizens or their relatives abroad to return to China to confront criminal charges. It also linked it to the activities of the United Front Labor Management in China, which is affiliated with the ruling Communist Party in charge of its influence and publicity of its influence abroad.
“I am very concerned about this.
We are aware of the existence of these centers,” Ray said in a hearing of the Internal Security and Government Affairs Committee, but he refused to provide details about the Federal Bureau investigations on this issue.

Republicans in the US House of Representatives, including Greg Murphy and Mike Waltz, sent messages to the Ministry of Justice in October asking whether the administration of President Joe Biden was investigating such centers and pushing the possibility of using them to intimidate the American population of Chinese origin.
Earlier this month, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied the existence of such centers in the Netherlands after an investigation by the Dutch authorities.
China said it was offices to help Chinese citizens renew the documents.
