The US Treasury announced today, Thursday, the imposition of sanctions on 13 companies that facilitate the sale of Iranian Petrochemical products with hundreds of millions of dollars for buyers in East Asia.
The treasury statement said that the targeted companies, which are stationed in a group of countries, sell oil on behalf of Iranian government companies.
The statement added that the measures taken today, which come within a fifth round of sanctions targeting the oil and petrochemical trade in Iran since June 2022, shows the ministry’s intention to “target the activities of evading sanctions. ”
“Today, the complex methods that Iran uses to evade sanctions appear to sell its petroleum and petrochemical products illegally,” said Brian Nelson, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Affairs Brian Nelson.
