The Castio’s Arbitration Court confirmed to participate in the ranks of the Ecuador team in the World Cup on the basis that the player’s nationality was “determined by national laws”, and that the Ecuadorian authorities “admitted” the defender as an Ecuadorian citizen.
The absence of Castio, who played eight matches in the South American qualifiers, in addition to a number of recent friendly matches, from the squad of surprise.
In this regard, the Ecuadorian Union stated that it wanted to protect itself from “unfair sanctions” by not calling Castio.
“In the face of the risk of suffering again from unfair penalties, the Ecuadorian Football Association is obligated not to include Peron Castio Sigura in the final list of FIFA,” the Ecuadorian Federation said in a statement.
