The German Football Federation announced its lack of support to the Swiss Gianni Infantino in the elections for the International Federation of the game (FIFA), but it will not offer a competitor.
The decision was made unanimously by the Executive Committee of the German Football Association.
Note that the deadline for the announcement of the candidates today, Wednesday, while the FIFA presidential elections will be held during the meetings of the General Assembly of the International Federation (Congress) on March 16 in Rwanda.
“The truth is that many federations have already indicated their support for current President Gianni Infantino,” Bernd Nindorf, president of the German Football Association, said in a statement.
“We would like to see a clearer commitment to human rights and a greater commitment to humanitarian issues on the part of FIFA,” Nindorf added..
