The Military Council in Myanmar announced Thursday that it will be released 700 prisoners, including a former British ambassador, Japanese journalist and Australian consultant to the UNG San Suu Chee Civil Government.
Meanwhile, local media reported that the army issued an amnesty of six thousand prisoners, including four foreigners. The Independent Neanmar Now news agency, quoting the Military Council, said that it had issued a pardon on the occasion of the National Day of Mainmar.

A senior Burmese official told “Agence France Presse” that the former British Ambassador Vicky Bowman, Australian economic advisor Sean Tournil and Japanese journalist Toro Copota “will be released on the occasion of the country’s national day.

Bowman, who held the position of ambassador from 2002 to 2006 with her husband in August, was arrested for not saying that she lives in a different address from the address mentioned in the registration certificate for foreigners, and sentenced them to a year’s prison.
The official added that her husband, the prominent artist, will be released as well.

Australian Sean Tournil was a consultant for the Myanmar Civilian Sue Chi when he was arrested shortly after the military coup in February last year.
In September, Ho -Soo Chi was convicted by a closed military court to violate the official secrets law and sentenced them to three years in prison.
As for the 26 -year -old Japanese, he was arrested in July near the anti -government gathering in Yangon, with two two homile citizens, and he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
