The Egyptian Council of Ministers agreed to consider the rice commodity from strategic products and prohibits its imprisonment for trading, either by hiding it, not offering it for sale, or refraining from selling it or in any other form.
The council stated that this decision came within the framework of following up the local market and the prices of goods and food products, and what has been monitored from some practices that resulted in blocking the rice commodity from trading by hiding it, or not offered for sale or refraining from selling it.
The draft resolution obliged the rice commodity for non -personal use, including producers, suppliers, distributors, sellers, and their equivalents, to notify the directorates of supply and internal trade competent at the level of the Republic of the quality and quantities of rice stored for them, provided that the supply controls and procedures that are determined by a decision are adhered to by the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade.
The draft resolution stipulated that with the absence of any more severe punishment stipulated in any other law, and without violating the right to compensation, anyone who violates the provision of the first article of that decision shall be punished with imprisonment for a period of no less than a year, and a fine of no less than one hundred thousand pounds, nor Over two million pounds, or the equivalent of the value of the goods, the subject of the crime, whichever is greater.
In the case of oud, he shall be punished with imprisonment for a period of no less than two years and not exceeding five years, and the value of the fine is doubled.
In all cases, the court is stirring confiscated, and the ruling is published with two broad daily newspaper.
According to the draft decision, the decision will be published in the Official Gazette, and it is working on it from the day following the date of its publication, and its provisions continue for a period of three months, or until another notice, which is closer, and all the competent authorities must implement it.
The Council of Ministers also approved a draft resolution, stipulating that it is excluded from the implementation of the provisions of Cabinet Resolution No.
66 of 2022 regarding determining the price of the sale of white rice, the luxurious white rice in which the fracture rate does not exceed 3%, provided that it is a luxury mobilization packed, And the sale price does not exceed 18 pounds per kilo.
