“An attack on an oil tanker off the coast of Amman on Tuesday was carried out by an Iranian driver, adding that a multilateral naval search operation led by a frigate of the British Royal Navy had occurred in the region,” the US Central Command said in a statement.
An Israeli official blamed Iran for the attack on the Zircon Pacific tanker run by the East Pacific Shipping Company, which is controlled by Israel.
The company said that slight damage was caused to the ship’s structure, but there were no injuries or spill in the shipment of gas oil.
A White House official said earlier that the United States was “confident that Iran has probably carried out” the strike using a drone.
The Iranian newspaper “Nureh News”, affiliated with the country’s supreme security apparatus, blamed Israel for the attack.
The US Central Command said in a statement late on Wednesday that the debris revealed that a single -directional attacking plane from a chain of witness hit the ship, describing it as Iranian -made.
The Central Command statement stated that this drone attack on a civilian ship in this vital maritime strait shows once again the destabilizing nature of stability of the wicked Iranian activity in the region.
