The United Nations General Assembly calls for Russian compensation for Ukraine

The vote in the General Assembly, which includes 193 members, came with the approval of 94 votes compared to the rejection of 14 votes and the abuse of 73. This was the lowest level to support five decisions adopted by the association related to Ukraine since the start of the operation on February 24.
The decision recognizes the need to put an “international mechanism to compensate for damage, losses, or injuries” resulting from the “unjust acts” that Russia committed against Ukraine.

It recommends that member states, in cooperation with Ukraine, establish an international record that documents allegations and information related to damage, loss or injury to the Ukrainians and the government because of Russia. ”
Ukrainian President Foludmir Zellinski described the decision as a “diplomatic victory”, in what he considered to be the vice -president of the Russian Federation Council “invalid and violate the organization’s charter.

Veto Russian in the security council of 15 members prevented the most influential entity at the United Nations from taking any action against President Vladimir Putin.
However, no objections to the General Assembly were issued when they earlier adopted four decisions criticizing the Russian process.
Contrary to Security Council resolutions, the decisions of the General Assembly are legally not binding..
