The United Nations General Assembly adopts a decision on compensation for the losses of Ukraine

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on setting a mechanism to provide compensation to Ukraine for the losses it incurred by the conflict with Russia, according to “Russia Today”.
On Monday, 94 countries voted, and 14 countries opposed, while 73 other countries abstained from voting.
Among the countries that rejected the draft resolution Russia, China, Syria, Iran, Belarus and others.

The decision recommends preparing the damage recorded in Ukraine as a result of “actions that violate international law by the Russian Federation”, and to set a mechanism to provide compensation for losses.
Russia rejected the decision, noting that it represents “a void attempt to legitimize what cannot be legitimized in terms of international law.

Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nippinesia, indicated that Western countries seek to use frozen Russian assets to finance arms supplies to Ukraine, describing it as “blatant looting. ”
The Russian delegate warned that this decision “may turn against those who initiate it” and that it would “lead to more destabilization and tension in the world. “.
