The ministry’s move comes after it has succeeded since last September by the gradual shift from the “electronic dirham” system to the direct payment system in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, and in line with a previous announcement by the Ministry of Finance stipulating that government agencies will be able to gradually stop the use of the previous system.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation stated that customers can recover the remaining balances in the “electronic dirham” through the banks exporting cards, and the approved payment methods that customers can use instead of the “electronic dirham” are considered “Visa” cards, “MasterCard” and “Google Bay” services and “Apple Bay”, or through the points of sale and devices designated for completing payments, which number 3343 devices throughout the country and in 243 business services centers.

Younis El -Khoury, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, said that the “electronic dirham” system has contributed since its launch in the year 2001 to enhancing the position of the entrepreneurial state in the field of financial technology solutions worldwide, as well as in building strategic partnerships with a group of leading national banks to provide a digital experience A very chain of customers.
