The Algerian director stressed that his return this year will be through a humorous work of the type of cytcom or “position comedy”, for several reasons.
Jaafar told Sky News Arabia: “When we miss the screen, we try to attend in writing operations, and I recently finished writing a comic series for the next month of Ramadan. ”
Historically, Jaafar Qasim is the first Algerian director to add the Citcum dish to the Ramadan business table in Algerian channels.
Thanks to these works, the director gained wide fame, to present several works, in which the most prominent comedy makers in Algeria, headed by actor Saleh Aqrout and Boyanah, participated.
It was starting in 2001 when he presented the series “Nass Mallah City” on Algerian TV.
After that, he presented another comic series entitled “Collective Family”, and continued to present the same humorous character, in the series “Maimon Coffee”, “Dar Al -Bahjah” and “Bouzid Dzir”.

From television to the cinema
In the recent period, the Algerian director went with steady steps towards the cinematic industry, as he directed the first feature film in its course entitled “Heliopols”.
It dealt with a part of the story of the famous masses of May 8 during the French colonial period of Algeria in 1945, and the estimates of Algerian historians say that they claimed the lives of 45 thousand Algerians.
Jaafar Qassem won this film, the honor to represent Algeria in the Oscars in 2021 in the category of the best international film that is talking other than the foreign language.
Although the movie didn’t enter the official competition, its notable success at the local level inspired people to seek out similar cinematic experiences.
Regarding this, Jaafar said: “I will have the experience of directing a movie about the great Algerian martyr Ahmed Bouqra after the month of Ramadan. I aspire to be on par with this great personality because making revolutionary movies is a huge responsibility.”
The Algerian public looks at the director, today, as one of the most important names that can achieve the renaissance of the cinema industry.
The golden era of Algerian cinema, which I was familiar with in the 1960s and 1970s, is something Qasim thinks the Algerian public deserves to experience once more.
The Algerian filmmaker observed that there are currently efforts being made to advance this challenging industry in Algerian cinema. There are many positive things at the level of political will, but the challenges are still very large.
“Recognition in Riyadh
The director offered his thoughts on the honour given recently by the 22nd Arab Radio and Television Festival, which was held in the Saudi capital of Riyadh under the theme “The media in a world is formed.”
Getting an Arab honor, which was a great honour and motivation, gave him support.
He made a point of saying that he owes this honour to the Algerian people, who deserve the most praise for any success he has had in the last 20 years.
In the upcoming Ramadan, special Algerian director Jaafar Qassem will reveal something new.
