Russian Foreign Ministry: Moscow will seek to re -link the agricultural bank to the Swift system

Sergey Verchainin, the deputy foreign minister of Russia, stated that Moscow will work to achieve this goal and sees the re-connection of the Russian Agricultural Bank to the “Swift” system as essential to moving forward with removing barriers to exporting local agricultural products.

The Russian news agency “TASS” reported today, Sunday, that Versenin said: “This is not the first time that we discuss this, because the re -linking of the Russian Agricultural Bank, which provides the majority of agricultural transactions and operations, is vital, in my view. ”
We cannot simply move forward without it, he continued.

We have discussed this before, and we did so in a very objective manner yesterday. We received assurances from UN representatives that they share our view that this is a crucial issue.
He emphasised that there are specific instructions on how to open correspondence accounts in several foreign banks, including “City Bank” and “GB Morgan” as a stopgap measure.

He said: «Nevertheless, if this option is available, it will only be temporary, because the actual solution is to completely link the agricultural bank to the Swift system of financial messages. ”.

Moscow will attempt to reconnect the agricultural bank to the Swift system, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
