Media: India intends to double the volume of trade exchange with Russia

The newspaper “Indian Express” wrote that India expects to double its trade exchange with Russia, including through payments in national currencies.

The newspaper quoted the results of the high -level Russian -Indian meeting held last September: “On the basis of comments issued by various exporters and commercial institutions, the Indian Ministry of Commerce expects to double the volume of trade between India and Russia in the near future, and this will be encouraged additionally through the use of Indian rupee in Payments. ”
This week, the Indian government took a decision to use rupees in international commercial payments.

The Indian Ministry of Commerce said that the decision aims to facilitate international transformations in rupees, taking into account the growth of interest in making the Indian currency an international currency.
The volume of trade exchange between Russia and India in the last stage increased dramatically, including thanks to the rapid growth of Russian oil supplies to India. The Russian oil share increased in the total size of Indian consumption to 22%, compared to less than 1% in the past.

Last September, Russia became the largest oil supplier to India.
