Germany: European sanctions targeting the “center of power” in the Revolutionary Guards

Al-Madinah News:- The European Union’s foreign ministers will meet in Brussels, where they are scheduled to impose more sanctions on Iran, today, Monday, in response to the union’s use of Tehran’s use of strength on a large scale against peaceful protesters.
In this context, the Federation’s Foreign Relations Commissioner Josep Borrell said today: “Europe will ratify an additional sanctions package against those responsible for suppressing the protests in Iran.

Borrell added: “Yesterday, the Iranian Foreign Minister conveyed the causes of European anxiety,” and he stressed that the European Union has evidence of Iran’s supply of Russia with marches, but we do not have evidence of providing it with missiles. ” He also considered that “the nuclear agreement remains the only way to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

For its part, Germany said today that the new European Union sanctions will target the “internal circle of power” in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. “We will decide a new sanctions package to send a clear signal to officials who believe they can suppress, intimidate and kill their people without consequences . . . they are not able. The world and Europe are watching,” German Foreign Minister Analina Perbuk told reporters before the European Union’s foreign ministers meeting in Brussels.

In the first round of the sanctions last October, the European Union imposed a travel ban and the freezing of assets on 15 Iranian individuals and institutions related to the death of the young woman, Muhsa Amini and tightening the screws on the protests.
Two diplomats said at the beginning of the week that the new package will witness 31 classifications for human rights violations targeting individuals and entities and include imposing a ban on assets and travel.

The protests erupted in Iran after the death of Muhsa Amini on September 16, after the ethics police detained it. These protests are one of the most precious challenges facing Iran since the 1979 revolution.
Human Rights Activists News Agency, “Hranna”, said that 336 demonstrators have so far died in the unrest, and nearly 15,000 have been arrested.
In another context, Russia’s war in Ukraine will be another major topic of discussions between European foreign ministers in Brussels.

Foreign ministers will discuss increasing support for Kiev during the next winter and may also address the ninth package of sanctions imposed on Russia, although diplomats say it is not expected to make a decision yet.
