Mr. Al -Qusayr, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, participated in the launching session of the Climate Adaptation and Flexibility Initiative in the water sector “AWARE” in the presence of Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources and Deputy Director General of the World Meteorological Organization, to us, Mansinkova, on the sidelines of his participation in the COP27 climate summit held Currently in Sharm El Sheikh.

Al -Qusayr welcomed during his speech to attend and participate in the summit of the parties, stressing that there is no cultivation without water, as more than 75% of water sources in the world are directed to agriculture service.
He pointed out that as climate changes greatly affect the agricultural sector and the activities associated with it and its workers, these climate changes also affect the water and its sources in terms of quantity, quality and timing.

“Therefore, just as the Food and Agriculture Initiative was launched for the sustainable transformation on the day of adaptation and agriculture on the twelfth of November here in Sharm El -Sheikh,” the Minister of Agriculture said.

He added, “It was important today to launch the initiative of adaptation and flexibility, increase the flexibility of the water sector and enable it to face the challenges it is exposed to, especially in the fragile, marginalized areas close to the coasts of the seas, while introducing the necessary technology to expedite the implementation of these projects.

He continued, “We support this initiative with full force and invite all the participants to support and join it, especially as it is integrated in its essence and content with the Fast initiative,” concluding his speech by thanking all the participants in the session and wished them success in supporting the food security system..
