Washington: The world must unite to address the deterioration of human rights in Iran

The American delegate to the United Nations Human Rights Council, Michel Taylor, said today, Saturday, that the international community should unite to address the deterioration of the human rights situation in Iran, especially for women, girls and children.
Taylor praised her German and Icelandic Twitter accounts for inviting them to host a special Human Rights Council session in this regard.

Earlier today, Robert Mali, the US special envoy to Iran, said that his country welcomes the initiative offered by Germany and Iceland to focus the world’s attention on the “violent repression” of Iran against peaceful protesters.
On Friday, Germany and Iceland demanded that the UN Human Rights Council hold a special meeting to discuss Iran’s human rights situation.

While Amnesty International said in a report last Thursday that it had documented the killing of at least 100 people, including 16 children, by the Iranian security forces in Sistan and Baluchistan since September 30.
Since last September, protests have been taking place across Iran amid allegations that police killed Muhsa Amini after she was detained for wearing an “inappropriate” veil.

The Iranian government, however, disputes that Amini was physically assaulted by police.
In addition, at least 326 people have been killed in the campaign to suppress the demonstrations that Iran has been witnessing since September, confirmed by the Human Rights Organization in NGO, which is based in Oslo.

“At least 326 people, including 43 children and 25 women, were killed by security forces during demonstrations across the country,” Iran’s Human Rights Organization said in a statement published on its website.
According to the numbers provided by this organization, the dead in the southeast Sistan Baluchistan Governorate, which is bordering Pakistan, number at least 123.

Washington: To address the deterioration of human rights in Iran, the world must come together.
