UNESCO: The languages of the world are estimated at 7 thousand languages, and we must strengthen them in 5 areas

The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, or UNESCO, reiterated its warnings regarding the extinction of the original peoples’ languages and stated that there are an estimated 7,000 languages spoken worldwide, the majority of which are those of the original peoples.

As soon as these languages disappear, the culture, knowledge, values, and identity they contain do as well. For this reason, we must support the use of the original languages in order for generations to come, according to UNESCO in a tweet sent through its official account on the “Twitter” platform.

A number of things, including communicating with the outside world, defining our identities, expressing our history and cultures, learning, defending our human rights, and participating in all aspects of society, are done through language, according to UNESCO. People preserve their memory, distinctive ways of thinking, meaning, and expression through their language, as well as the history of their societies, customs, and traditions. They also use it to build their future.

According to UNESCO, improving the indigenous population’s languages is necessary for advancing human rights, good governance, peacebuilding, reconciliation, and sustainable development in the following five key areas:
1. Improved communication, peacemaking, and international cooperation.
2- Creating favorable conditions for sharing knowledge and spreading good practices in relation to the original languages.
3.

incorporating indigenous languages into common language.
4. Empowerment through capacity development.
5. Development and development through the development of new knowledge..

According to UNESCO, there are an estimated 7,000 languages in the world, and we need to improve them in five key areas.
