As part of the World Championship, which is being hosted by Algeria through November 13th, the Egyptian champion, Ziad Al-Sisi, took home the bronze medal in the men’s sword weapon competitions.
Ziad Al-Sisi was defeated by Georgia’s second-ranked world champion with a score of (15-13) in the semi-finals, earning him the bronze medal, which is awarded to losers in this round.
The bronze medal won by Ziad Al-Sisi is significant because it is Egypt’s first-ever victory in the men’s sword division of the world championships.
Throughout his career in the competition, Ziad Al-Sisi earned a number of prestigious victories, first over the Tunisian Mohamed bin Mansour and later over the Hungarian Tamas Gilguzi in the round of 64.
Ziad Al -Sisi managed to beat the Turkish Inver Yildirim in the 32nd round, then beat the world ranked fourth in the Italian champion in the final price.
In order to advance to the semifinals, Ziad Al-Sisi defeated McCim Banetif of France (15-14) in the quarterfinals.
Notably, Ziad Al-Sisi defeated the Italian champion (15-9) to move Egypt up to position 38 in the competition, and he went on to win the golden competitions for the Al-Saber weapon at the Mediterranean Games in the Algerian city of Oran.
