The Middle East and North Africa’s Climate Week will be held in 2023, according to the Saudi minister.
“We talked with the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and we will host the Climate Week in the Middle East and North Africa in 2023,” he added during a discussion committee regarding the Saudi Green Initiative on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Summit (COB 27) in Egypt.

The minister announced yesterday, Friday, that the Kingdom launched 13 renewable energy projects at 9 billion dollars, stressing that his country aims to reach a net zero carbon emissions by 2060.
This was said by the minister while he was speaking at the Saudi Green Initiative Forum 2022, which was held in conjunction with the COB 27 Climate Summit in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh.

According to the Saudi minister, “we were able to reduce carbon emissions by about 21 million tonnes over the past year.”
He emphasised that by all standards, the Saudi government’s Aramco oil production company has the lowest level of methane gas emissions.
He added that his country intends to launch the market for global warming certificates at the beginning of 2023.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, the Saudi Arabian energy minister, explained that the country can serve as a role model for how hydrogen can be used in the energy sector.
