The first Monde en fête multicultural festival was held on Saturday by CAFI, a nonprofit organisation that assists francophone immigrants in settling in the Moncton region.
The festival took place during the tenth annual National Francophone Immigration Week.
A multicultural parade, dancing, and music were all part of it.
The federal government opened a national centre in Dieppe, N. B. , on Thursday, with the goal of increasing francophone immigration.

The announcement thrilled CAFI Executive Director Angèle Losier, who spoke to Global News in French on Saturday.
“We were impatiently awaiting this announcement. It gives us a place to meet our francophone customers who want to relocate in the area, she said.
“As a result, we will have agents we can work with directly to promote the arrival of new francophone immigrants to the area.

She asserted that New Brunswick’s bilingual status draws immigrants from francophone countries who wish to acquire English.
She said that while there has been a noticeable increase in francophone migration in the area, there are “very great challenges” in attracting and retaining francophone immigrants in the province, such as transportation, housing, and the job market for immigrants.

The greeting and establishment manager for CAFI and Togolese immigrant Mathias Mawoussi told Global News in French that he thinks there has to be more open communication about the difficulties that immigrants will face in the province before they come.
He reiterated Losier’s remarks regarding the housing issue and the different employment obstacles that immigrants may encounter.
Mawoussi arrived in New Brunswick five years ago after initially emigrating to France.

Despite the difficulties, he claimed that he loves the standard of living in New Brunswick and intends to remain there for the rest of his life.
