Amid the continued protests in Iran 8 weeks ago after the death of the Kurdish young woman, Muhsa Amini, with the security forces violently confronting the demonstrators, German counselor Olaf Schultz announced on Saturday that he tends to impose the European Union a new round of sanctions on Tehran this week.

According to the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, this comes as the European Union’s foreign ministers discuss imposing new sanctions on Iran on Monday in response to the suppression of the protests that started after the death of Amini.
Gabrielus Landsberses stated during a visit to Berlin on Friday that “we will propose additional lists that can be added to the sanctions list,” adding that the new sanctions “will include two aspects: Iranian participation in the war in Ukraine alongside Russia, as well as the human rights violations observed in Iranian cities.
” In turn, a European diplomat in Brussels revealed that the new sanctions package aims to add “about 30 names” to people or entities previously targeted by the European Union, which imposed sanctions in mid -October against the Iranian “Ethics Police” and 11 senior officials, according to AFP.
Beginning of the week, German Foreign Minister Analina Perpuk said the 27-member European Union are about to adopt new sanctions.
According to reports, the demonstrations in the country have not been peaceful since Amini (22 years old) passed away on September 16, three days after she was detained by the “Ethics Police” while visiting Tehran with her younger brother on the grounds that she had broken the city’s strict dress codes.
Her death sparked unprecedented protests in Iran 3 years ago, led by university and school students, as well as women and girls in various governorates.
As the security forces violently engaged the protesters, hundreds of them were killed. Human rights advocates reported that 47 minors were among the 314 protesters who died in the unrest.
At least 14,170 people were arrested, including 392 students, in those protests that came out in 136 cities, town and 134 universities..
