Germany intends to expand its trade relations with the ASEAN countries and reduce dependence on China

German Economy Minister “Robert Habik” declared his intention to lessen reliance on China and increase trade relations with other ASEAN Association (the Association of Southeast Asian countries) members.
German Deputy Chancellor Olaf Schultz stated before the activities of a German economic activity conference in the “Asia-Pacific” region began in Singapore: “We must reorganise our commercial policy; we need other countries and other partners.

“He urged the Green Party official to hold talks on the conclusion of a deal to liberalise trade between the European Union and India as soon as possible.
Habik recognised that there should not be unilateral dependence in certain important areas; he discussed the semiconductor industry, claiming that Germany and Singapore both have semiconductor production capabilities, and he demanded the expansion of cooperation with Singapore.

Habik asserted that the German economy is paying close attention to the rapidly growing South Asian markets, but he emphasised that this does not imply China’s economic integration.

Germany wants to reduce its reliance on China and increase its trade relations with the ASEAN nations.
