World Adoption Day: Okanagan Woman Recalls Being Called Mom By Adopted Child

IRINA MEYER, A RESIDENT OF KELOWNA, LEFT IN 2018 FOR A TWO-YEAR STAY IN UKRAINE, BUT SHE NEVER THOUGHT SHE’D BECOME RETURNING WITH AN ADOPTED CHILD.
Meyer told Global News, “I think it’s a miracle.”
A Miracle, In Part, Due To The Story’s Unexpected Development, Which Meyer Is Sharing On World Adoption Day.
Meyer, who is of Ukrainian descent, posted a Facebook status about one of her former teachers in Ukraine, and that was when everything began.

The article explained how the teacher discovered herself in a challenging situation after her son and daughter-in-law.
Meyer described the unexpected situation her former teacher found herself in by saying, “It was not a very easy situation.”
Meyer started extending assistance from this side of the world after being moved by the challenging circumstances for Bi the young girl and her grandmother.
We merely provided a little assistance with a minor renewal there, Meyer said.

We purchased them for her a small computer and, I believe, a washer and dryer.
Meyer claimed that a few years later, she, her husband, and their two children travelled to Ukraine for an extended stay, when they had the opportunity to meet the young girl known as Angelina.
I believe we went to the park and had a pony ride when I arrived there, she said.
Angelina’s mother died during childbirth. Six months later, her father passed away from complications brought on by a medical condition.

Even though Angelina is now seven years old, she still mourns the loss of her parents.
She said, “It Makes Me Sad.”
Irina Meyers reported that the grandma inquired about the Meyers’ thought of adopting Angelina as their extended stay in Ukraine was coming to an end.
Meyer responded, “She asked me and my ex-husband. And we came to the conclusion that we could do it.

They were able to bring Angelina to Kelowna just before her fifth birthday, according to Meyer, who claimed that the adoption process was somewhat difficult.

What Angelina loves most about her adopted mother is “that she cares about me and loves me,” she added.
