Western University Faculty Union Sets Strike Action Deadline For Next Week

If a last-minute agreement cannot be reached with the school, the union representing faculty members at Western University says it has set a strike deadline for the following week.
According to the University of Western Ontario Faculty Association, the employer’s most recent offer is not satisfactory, and union members will join picket lines on Tuesday morning if a new collective agreement cannot be reached by Monday at 11:59 p.m.
The Union and The London, Ont. held two rounds of negotiations.

Today’s University Schedule is posted.
The main issues during this round of bargaining, according to the union that represents about 1,600 faculty members and library employees, are equitable workloads, equal access to benefits, and job security for contract face members.
DURING THE TALKS WITH THE UNIVERSITY, WHICH STARTED AFTER THE UNION’S PRESENT COLLECTIVE AGREGEMENTS EXPIRED IN JNE, AROUND 91% OF UNION MEMBERS VOTED IN FAVOR OF STRIKE ACTION.

Western University didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
