Voters Approve 100′s of Millions for Area Schools

(WBAY) – Green Bay, Wisconsin Local School Districts won on election night after successive funding referendums passed.
Green Bay, Appleton, Menasha, and Pulaski were among the biggest. All of them demanded millions of dollars for renovations, improvements, and, in some cases, the construction of entirely new schools.
There were a few others, such as Denmark, Hilbert, Peshtigo, Two Rivers, and Waupaca, where referendums were approved by more than 60% of local voters.

Green Bay School Board President Laura McCoy said, “We’re Vray Happy to Know Our Community Supports Public Education and is Committed As We All Are To Doing What’s Best For Kids.”
Greg Hartjes, the superintendent of Appleton Schools, said, “We’re Really Excited for Our Students, Current Students, and Future Students for Years to Come Who Are Going to Benefit and Be Impact Positively by the Referendum.”
The Appleton Area School District was looking for funding totaling almost $ 130 million.

More than $ 92 million was requested by the Green Bay Area Public School District.
Both districts intend to use the funds for things like facility upgrades, improvements to playgrounds, student and community safety, and security. Green Bay Plans to Repair Cracks and Put New Roofs on School Buildings, Improve Hvac Systems in Schools, and Upgrade Sub of ITS Athletic Fields.

All 27 of Appleton’s district school buildings are in the works, and the city also has plans to construct a brand-new elementary school on the neighborhood’s rapidly developing north side.

“In order to move sixth-graders into the middle school, our first priority projects are to finish additions and renovations at our four middle schools. This will allow us to work on smaller projects at all of our elementary schools, according to Hartjes.
Officials with the Appleton Area School District Say Meetings Will Take Place This Week To Start Planning for All of this Work.

The Middle School Projects for the Start of the 2024–2025 School Year and the Elementary School Projects for the Start of the 2025–2026 School Year are Expected to Begin This Summer. To help with class size reduction and to provide students more opportunities in the sciences, Appleton will also hire more staff.
In Green Bay, Plans Are Also in the Works with Hopes of Starting the Work on its Buildings As Soon As Possible..
